Shots were fired at a 2007 Kia SUV on US Route 30 East just east of Breezeview Drive on June 3, NYCRPD detailed in the release.
Officers were called to the scene around 6:22 p.m. They found the vehicle riddled with bullets pulled over in a grassy area near Manchester Crossroads.
The driver was in a nearby business, and following the police's interview with the driver, investigators believe that the driver was the intended target, but they did not release the reason why to the public or press.
Investigators also determined that the shooter's vehicle was traveling in the same direction when they opened fire. The Kia driver reacted by crossing over the concrete median into the westbound lanes of traffic, jumping a curb, and finally stopping in the grassy area where the police found it.
The Kia driver was the only person in the SUV at the time of the shooting and they were uninjured, according to the police.
US Route 30 East was closed for over an hour during the investigation, which is ongoing.
